Bookmarks Programme 2026

2nd Mar 2026

Our two 6th classes are involved in an exciting project with Trinity College through the Trinity Access Programme. Each boy will have an opportunity to write and illustrate his own book for it to be launched and exhibited in the famous Long Room Library.

On Tuesday, January 27, we went to Trinity College in the pouring rain. We were shown a collection of children’s books that were donated to the library, some of them 300 years old! We got a tour of the library and saw the Book of Kells (actually a quarter of it only is on display), the Brian Boru harp ( the actual harp that our national symbol from our passports and coins are designed on) and an amazing sculpture of our planet. We were shocked to hear this gets deflated and inflated each day!
After fascinatingly informative workshops with Irish writer Nicola Pierce and illustrator Mags Suggs, we were treated to dinner at the Old Dining Hall.

Interesting fact: Both the Old Library and Dining Hall were inspirational for the setting of the library and hall in Harry Potter!
